Excavation and trenching work is one of the most hazardous activities in construction. According to OSHA, an average of 112 workers die each year in trench collapses, and many more are seriously injured. Most of these accidents are preventable with proper safety training and competent supervision.
The Excavation Competent Person Course equips supervisors, safety personnel, and workers with the knowledge and skills to safely manage trenching and excavation operations in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
Participants will learn to identify soil types, recognize trench hazards, select and install proper protective systems, and perform daily inspections to prevent cave-ins and other excavation-related accidents. The course emphasizes hands-on training and real-world scenarios to ensure safe practices on every jobsite.
Upon successful completion, participants receive Excavation Competent Person training certification, qualifying them to supervise excavation operations safely.
