Being a flagger is the most important job on the work site. Careless use of the sign or distraction from duty could cause serious injury to workers or the motoring public. Performing flagger duties diligently can prevent traffic incidents in the work area.

The American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) Flagger Training Course prepares workers to safely control traffic in roadway and construction work zones. This course teaches proper flagging techniques, communication methods, and safety procedures to protect workers, motorists, and pedestrians.

Participants will learn essential topics including work zone safety, proper flagger positioning, use of traffic control devices, hand signaling methods, and how to respond to emergency situations in a work zone.
